The honest framing

Full-mouth dental reconstruction is not a one-week holiday in India. It is a 9–11 month clinical programme with two Hyderabad visits and an osseointegration interval in between, during which you are home in Milano, Roma, Torino, Firenze, Bologna, Napoli, Genova, Bari, Venezia, Padova, Verona, or wherever you live in Italia, living your life.

This page is the full timeline. Not the marketing version. The actual version, built from the average across 23 completed Italian cases plus 924 global cases, with the variance noted where it matters.

The seven phases at a glance

Total elapsed time from first enquiry to 24-month review: about 26–28 months. Total time in Hyderabad: typically 20–28 days across two visits. Total time off work in Italia: typically 4–5 weeks combined.

Phase 1: Enquiry and scoping (Week 0–2)

Week 0: you email us

You write to us in Italian, English, or whatever language you prefer. The enquiry form at stunningdentistry.com asks for:

• Your name and contact details.
• A brief description of what you believe you need (or, if your Italian odontoiatra has recommended something, their recommendation).
• Any recent radiographs or clinical reports you can share (OPG is most useful; CBCT even better; panoramica and periapicali acceptable for early scoping).
• Your preferred mode of contact (email, WhatsApp, video call).

Day 1–2: first response

An Italian-speaking patient coordinator responds within 4 Italian business hours (our European coordinators work 8:00–18:00 CET), usually sooner. The first response acknowledges receipt, asks any immediate clarifying questions, and proposes a 30-minute video consultation time.

Week 1: initial video consultation

A 30-minute video call with your coordinator and, if clinical records are already shared, a brief segment with a treating clinician. We cover:

• What you want from the treatment (function, aesthetics, cost envelope).
• Your broader medical history relevant to oral surgery (diabete, ipertensione, anticoagulanti, bisfosfonati, chemioterapia pregressa, condizioni cardiache).
• What records you have and what we still need.
• The realistic range of treatment options for your case.
• Rough indicative cost range (not a quote yet).
• Timeline expectations.

We do not close on this call. If you want to proceed to a diagnostic-grade quote, we move into Phase 2.

Phase 2: Diagnostic pack and quote (Week 2–4)

Getting the diagnostic imaging

For a meaningful treatment plan and firm quote, we need:

• A recent OPG (panoramica dentale), not more than 6 months old. Your Italian odontoiatra can produce this for €40–€80 at a private studio odontoiatrico; most studi with a panoramico machine can do it same-day. Centri di radiologia with names like Radiologia Cittadella, Centro Medico Santagostino, Humanitas Medical Care, Gruppo San Donato, Policlinico Gemelli offer OPG on walk-in in most Italian cities.
• A CBCT (tomografia computerizzata cone-beam), required for implant planning. Available at centri radiologici specializzati; typical cost €150–€280 in private practice. Your odontoiatra can refer, or we can direct you to a centro radiologico in your city. If you are in a smaller city, your nearest CBCT is usually in the regional capoluogo di provincia.
• Recent intraoral photographs, front, lateral, occlusal; your odontoiatra can provide, or a smartphone photo series we guide you through works.
• Current medication list and medical history summary.

We are happy to write a referral note in Italian on our letterhead that your odontoiatra can take as context when you request the OPG or CBCT.

Records review and treatment plan

Your records are reviewed by the lead prosthodontist for international cases (Dr. Anand Reddy) and a case-appropriate surgeon (Dr. Vikram Singh for zygomatic cases, Dr. Priya Kaur for conventional cases). Turnaround from records-received to treatment plan: 5 Italian business days.

The treatment plan you receive is:

• A written document in English with a translated Italian summary.
• Itemised by tooth and site, with implant positions, bone grafting requirements, prosthetic design, and materials.
• Priced to the euro, with a landed-cost calculation including flights and hotel.
• Timeline-mapped, with proposed first-visit and second-visit dates.
• Clear on what is included, what is not included, and what the discretionary extras are.

We offer a second 45-minute video consultation to walk you through the plan. Most Italian patients take us up on this.

Phase 3: Decision and booking (Week 4–8)

The decision window

We do not pressure you to decide on the call. Most Italian patients take 2–6 weeks to decide. During this window, we are happy to:

• Answer follow-up questions from you or from your Italian odontoiatra.
• Do a direct odontoiatra-to-odontoiatra video consultation with your Italian clinician (about 28% of Italian cases have used this).
• Revise the plan if you raise a reasonable alternative or clinical concern.
• Share recorded testimonials from other Italian patients with comparable cases.

What booking looks like

When you decide to proceed:

1. Deposito: 10% of the treatment cost via bonifico internazionale or credit card. Fully refundable up to 60 days before your first travel date. This confirms the clinical slot and allows us to book provisional flights and hotel.

2. Visa application: you apply for the India e-Medical Visa online (indianvisaonline.gov.in). Typical processing: 3–5 Italian business days. We provide an invitation letter from our Indian medical partner on Indian letterhead that supports your application. See our visa page for the full walkthrough.

3. Flights: once visa is confirmed, we book your flights (typically Milano Malpensa MXP, Roma Fiumicino FCO, Venezia VCE, Bologna BLQ, Napoli NAP, or Torino TRN to Hyderabad via Dubai, Doha, Istanbul, or Frankfurt). Economy class unless you specify otherwise. Emirates via Dubai 13.5–14 hours total, Qatar via Doha 13 hours total, Turkish via Istanbul 14–15 hours total, Lufthansa via Frankfurt 14.5 hours total. For Roma, the most direct single-stop is Emirates FCO-DXB-HYD; for Milano, Qatar MXP-DOH-HYD is a 12.5-hour routing that many Italian patients prefer.

4. Hotel: partner hotel booked. We hold a suite at Taj Krishna Banjara Hills by default; alternatives (Park Hyatt, ITC Kohenur, Novotel, Radisson Blu, Marriott Executive Apartments, Hyatt Place, Courtyard Marriott) based on your preference.

5. Pre-travel pack: you receive a branded pre-travel pack in Italian: flight details, hotel details, a single-page "what to pack for Hyderabad in [month]" guide, a plain-Italian brief on Indian customs and currency, and our 24/7 contact card.

Phase 4: First Hyderabad visit, surgery (Week 8–10 typical; 10–14 days in Hyderabad)

Day 0: arrival

Your Stunning Dentistry coordinator meets you at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) arrivals kerb in person. Chauffeur-driven Toyota Camry or Innova Crysta (both widely used in India for private medical transport), air-conditioned, direct to your hotel. Check-in assistance. A welcome pack in the room (bottled water, fresh fruit, the next 48 hours' schedule printed in Italian and English).

Day 1: clinical day 1

• 9:30 AM: pick-up from hotel.
• Clinical examination and full diagnostic update. Any additional imaging as needed.
• Treatment plan review in person with your prosthodontist and surgeon.
• Smile-design session: 3D visualisation of your planned final bridge, with real-time adjustments.
• Signed consent, updated plan confirmed, surgery scheduled.
• Return to hotel. Light lunch. You are encouraged to rest.

Day 2 or 3: surgery day

• Early arrival at clinic. Full asepsis protocol.
• Sedazione cosciente standard for full-arch cases (intravenous midazolam plus local anaesthesia). Anestesia generale available for patients who prefer it.
• Duration for full-mouth zygomatic case: 4.5–6 hours. For single implant: 45–75 minutes.
• Immediate provisionali fitted in the same session for full-arch cases.
• Recovery in a private suite at the clinic (2–4 hours post-procedure), then return to hotel accompanied by coordinator.

Day 3–4: immediate post-operative

Clinic review morning of day after surgery. Check surgical sites, check provisional fit, reinforce post-op protocol. Most patients are comfortable and mobile by this point on standard analgesia (paracetamolo + ibuprofene, with tramadolo as rescue for the first 48 hours).

Day 4–10: recovery and calibration

Scheduled clinic visits every 2–3 days to check healing and provisional fit. Between visits you are free. We suggest:

• Not scheduling heavy tourism in the first 4 days post-surgery.
• Gentle walks around the hotel grounds and nearby.
• Enjoying the in-hotel pool or spa (after day 5, light use only).
• On day 6 or 7, one chauffeur-driven gentle sightseeing half-day, Golconda Fort, Charminar, Chowmahalla Palace, or the shopping quarter around Hyderabad's Pearl City for those who want to bring home Hyderabadi pearl jewellery.

Day 10–14: discharge

Final post-operative review. Provisional re-fit if needed. Written discharge summary in Italian and English, including:

• Confirmed surgical record.
• Home care protocol.
• What-to-expect timeline for the next 3 months.
• When to email us, when to call us, when to see your Italian odontoiatra.
• Confirmed date for second Hyderabad visit.

Return flight. Coordinator escort back to the airport.

Phase 5: Osseointegration interval (Months 3–6)

What happens in your body

The implants need 3–5 months (lower jaw) or 4–6 months (upper jaw) to osseointegrate, the titanium and bone form a functional bond. During this time you live normally but with a soft diet and the provisional bridge in place.

What happens with us

• Month 1 check-in: a 20-minute video consultation with your coordinator and treating clinician. Photos of the surgical sites. Troubleshooting of any small issues (e.g., a provisional bridge chip, a question about soft tissue appearance).
• Month 3 check-in: 30-minute video consultation. Full review. At this point we confirm the date range for your second visit.
• Month 4–5 if required: additional consultations if your Italian odontoiatra raises a question, or if you notice anything unusual.

What happens with your Italian odontoiatra

• Month 2–3: you see your Italian odontoiatra for a check-up. They review the surgical sites and the provisionals. Most Italian general dentists welcome the chance to stay informed; a small number ask for a direct liaison call with us, which we arrange within 5 Italian business days. Contributo ENPAM is not affected by this kind of routine check because you are paying the odontoiatra out of pocket, as is normal for a private consultation.
• Month 4–5: a hygiene appointment (igiene orale professionale) with the igienista in your studio. Standard Italian hygiene protocols fully apply; we supply the hygiene protocol in Italian.

Your life, ordinarily

You work, you travel, you eat a soft-but-satisfying diet, you exercise. Implants in osseointegration do not require you to be an invalid.

Phase 6: Second Hyderabad visit, final fit (Months 6–8; 10–14 days in Hyderabad)

The final-fit visit

This visit is less clinically intense than the first. The purpose is:

1. Final impressions or scans (day 1–2): intraoral scanning with Sirona or 3Shape, sometimes traditional impressions for specific cases.

2. Bridge fabrication in our in-house lab (day 3–6): monolithic zirconia bridges milled on Sirona or Roland CAD/CAM systems. The lab works in parallel with your daily clinic visits.

3. Try-in and aesthetic approval (day 7–9): a biscuit-bake or digital try-in for your approval. Shade, length, shape, lip support, smile line, all confirmed with you holding the mirror.

4. Final fit and occlusal calibration (day 10–11): the bridge is fitted. Occlusal calibration to within 40 microns. Articulating paper sessions. Photographs for your records and ours.

5. Final review and discharge (day 12–14): soft tissue check, bite check with a trial diet, final discharge pack handed over.

The discharge pack

At the end of this visit you receive:

• The Clinical Summary (PDF, English, with Italian translated summary).
• The Digital Records USB (CBCT, OPG, intraoral scans, shade maps, final photographs).
• The Patient Summary (PDF, plain Italian, for you).
• Your warranty certificate.
• A handover letter for your Italian odontoiatra, on our letterhead.
• A 24/7 emergency contact card (plastic wallet card).
• A 30-day soft diet plan (plain Italian, tier A/B/C/D transitions adapted to Italian cuisine).
• A recall schedule pre-booked for your Italian odontoiatra recall at 30 days, 6 months, and 12 months.

Phase 7: Post-return integration (Months 8–24)

Week 1 after return

• Day 1 back in Italia: sleep. Jet lag from Hyderabad is typically 3–4 days for westbound travel to Italian time zones.
• Day 3–5: schedule (or attend) your first appointment with your Italian odontoiatra to introduce your new work. They have already received the handover letter by email.
• Week 1–2: stay on soft food (Tier B per the discharge protocol, pastina, vellutata, passato di verdure, risotto morbido, polenta morbida). Introduce firmer items gradually.

Month 1

• 30-day video review with your SD coordinator. Any questions, any adjustments, any small concerns.
• 30-day in-person visit with your Italian odontoiatra (pre-scheduled before you left).

Month 6, Month 12, Month 24

• Six-monthly igiene professionale with your Italian igienista or odontoiatra.
• Month 12 and Month 24 video reviews with us (45 minutes each). At Month 12 we conduct a full photographic review; at Month 24 we add an annual radiographic review (we ask your Italian odontoiatra to send a recent rétro-alvéolaire or panoramica).

Year 3 onwards

Annual rhythm. Six-monthly maintenance with your Italian odontoiatra. One 45-minute video check-in with us annually on your anniversary date.

What can shift the timeline

The 9–11 month total timeline assumes:

• Standard healing rates (non-smoker, normoglycaemic, no active periodontal disease in residual teeth).
• No required extractions or bone grafting beyond what is planned up-front.
• You can accommodate the scheduled second-visit window within normal work/family flexibility.

The timeline extends in these cases:

• Smoker: we ask for 8 weeks of cessation before surgery and strongly recommend continued cessation through osseointegration. This can extend the interval by 2–6 weeks.
• Significant bone grafting required: can add 2–4 months to the integration interval to allow graft maturation.
• Paziente diabetico con emoglobina glicata elevata: we ask for HbA1c to be stabilised below 7.5% before surgery, working with your diabetologo. Can add 1–3 months upfront.
• Medical event during the interval: anything from a nuovo intervento chirurgico to a significant life event can shift the second visit. We hold your slot for up to 9 months without repricing.
