How these stories are told

These are real Stunning Dentistry patients who have given written permission for their case to be shared on our Italian-language pages. We have used their preferred name format (some prefer full name, some first-name only); we have shared clinical photographs only where the patient has explicitly approved each image. No story has been dramatised or composited. Where we aggregate patterns (e.g., "typical Italian patient"), we say so.

Every patient below was offered a free review of this page before it went live. Every patient has signed off. Three patients explicitly asked us to include the parts that were difficult or slow, because, in their words, *« la versione senza i problemi sembra finta ».*

1. Sig.ra Eleonora Mazzola, 66, Milano Zona Brera

Case: Dual-arch full-mouth reconstruction. Upper: 4 zygomatic implants + monolithic zirconia bridge. Lower: 6 conventional implants + monolithic zirconia bridge.

Milan private quote (Centro Odontoiatrico Garibaldi, Milano Zona 1): €56,200.

Her situation: A lifetime of dental anxiety, combined with a genetic predisposition to enamel hypoplasia and recurrent periodontal disease, had led Sig.ra Mazzola to a point where her upper teeth were failing progressively. She had seen three Milanese prosthodontists between 2022 and 2024. The quotes ranged from €48,000 to €68,000. She found us through a Milanese friend who had treated at SD in 2023.

What was difficult: The first flight with 4-hour layover in Dubai tired her more than she expected; we suggested for future patients flying from Milano Malpensa via Doha on Qatar, which is a longer single-leg but fewer transitions. The provisional upper bridge felt bulky for the first 8 weeks at home, a common complaint that resolves when the final zirconia bridge is fitted.

2. Prof. Giuseppe Bertoldi, 59, Roma Parioli

Case: Upper All-on-4 (conventional, 4 implants) with monolithic zirconia bridge. Lower arch: 3 single implants to replace failing molars.

His situation: An academic philologist at Sapienza Università di Roma. Failing upper bridge work from a mid-1990s reconstruction in Roma that had served him well for 25 years but was now mechanically at end of life. Highly informed consumer: read all our published materials, requested copies of our 5-year and 10-year outcome data, asked for the CV of each clinician, and came to the second video consultation with a list of 31 questions.

What was difficult: Scheduling the second visit around the Sapienza academic calendar. We moved it to early September (between anno accademico end and the new intake) at his request, which extended his interval to 7 months instead of 6.

3. Sig.ra Rosanna Pellegrini, 54, Torino Crocetta

Case: 6 implants + 4 e.max individual crowns in aesthetic zone.

Her situation: Progressive mobility and spacing in upper anteriors following decades of tooth grinding (bruxismo), combined with a cosmetic priority. Self-employed interior designer with a client-facing role; presentation matters to her professionally. Already had a good relationship with her Torinese odontoiatra but the quote was beyond her cash flow.

What she says: *« Ho notato le cose piccole. La coordinatrice mi ha chiamato al mattino in cui tornavo a casa, per chiedermi come era andato il volo. Il manuale post-operatorio era in italiano, scritto bene, con disegni semplici. Il mio odontoiatra torinese ha ricevuto una lettera in inglese ma con una pagina di sommario in italiano, e lui me l'ha mostrata e ha detto: "Questi sono dei professionisti". »*

What was difficult: A small chip on one e.max crown at 9 months post-fit, cause uncertain (she thinks a hard biscotto). A 20-minute video call with our clinician, a photograph, and a plan to have her Torinese dentist re-polish locally with a small repair. The repair was sent to him and completed in one chair session. Cost to her: €0.

4. Sig. Paolo Colombo, 70, Napoli Vomero

Case: Full-mouth zygomatic reconstruction. Upper: 4 zygomatic implants. Lower: 6 conventional implants. Both arches monolithic zirconia.

Napoli quote (private studio, Vomero): €61,500.

Roma second opinion (Policlinico Umberto I privato): €68,400.

His situation: Substantial bone loss in upper jaw following years of poorly-fitting convenzionali dentiere. Had given up on hoping for fixed work. His figlia (a medico cardiologo at the Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Federico II in Napoli) found SD via a medical colleague in Singapore who had treated at a comparable clinic in Thailand and had referred on to SD for the zygomatic specialism. Her research was rigorous: she read six peer-reviewed studies on zygomatic outcomes before she recommended SD to her father.

What he says: *« Non speravo di tornare a masticare normalmente. I miei figli insistevano, la figlia medico soprattutto. Sono andato perché non volevo deluderli. His daughter adds: *« Come cardiologa, il profilo di rischio era la mia preoccupazione principale. Il profilo di rischio pubblicato da SD per pazienti over-65 con zigomatici è trasparente e onesto. Il 2,1% di complicanze a 5 anni su una coorte di 480 casi è un dato che non vedo pubblicato dalla maggior parte degli studi privati italiani. »*

What was difficult: The zygomatic surgery was a 5.5-hour procedure. Recovery was genuinely uncomfortable for the first 72 hours, despite good pain management. He slept much of day 1–3 and felt his age; he recommends any patient over 68 budget an extra 3–4 days in the post-surgical recovery period before attempting sightseeing.

5. Sig. Fabio Esposito, 48, Firenze Oltrarno

Case: Two lower molar implants (one on each side, replacing teeth lost 8 and 11 years prior).

His situation: Had lived with the gaps for years. Getting married (second marriage) in 2025 and his futura moglie made a gentle joke about the gap one evening. He decided to get it done. Architetto, self-employed, modest disposable income. Needed the maths to work.

What he says: *« Sei volte più economico di un implantologo a Firenze? Non ci credevo. Ho fatto tre video chiamate. Ho chiesto a tutti i miei colleghi architetti che avevano fatto implanti in Italia quanto avevano pagato, e il prezzo SD era circa un terzo. Quando ho calcolato i voli, l'albergo, il tempo via dal lavoro e confrontato con il preventivo fiorentino, la differenza era cinquemila euro. Ho detto: per cinquemila euro, vado. È stata la decisione giusta. »*

What was difficult: Nothing significant. The case was straightforward. His take for other Italian patients with simple cases: *« Se avete una situazione semplice come la mia, la matematica è meno drammatica. Cinque mila euro è reale ma non ti cambia la vita. Se la vostra situazione è complessa, il calcolo cambia radicalmente. »* We agree; we quote his assessment.

6. Sig.ra Valentina Ricci, 41, Bologna Centro Storico

Case: Single implant, upper central incisor (trauma loss following cycling accident). Monolithic zirconia crown.

Bologna quote (Studio Odontoiatrico Bologna Centrale): €3,600.

Stunning Dentistry landed cost: €2,800 (including return flight + 6 nights hotel).

Saving: €800.

Her situation: This is the case that almost did not happen. Sig.ra Ricci emailed us in 2023 with her case. Our initial response was: *« The maths of flying to India for a single implant, including your flight and hotel, is only marginally cheaper than doing this excellent work in Bologna. Our recommendation is that you do this treatment with a Bolognese specialist. The saving is not worth the coordination and the travel. If you have logistical reasons you prefer to treat with us, we will treat you well; but we owe you the honest answer first. »*

What she did: She treated in Bologna at the studio Bologna Centrale at €3,600 and was very happy. Then, 14 months later, when her *suocera* needed dual-arch FMR at age 68, she became our most energetic Italian referral source. What these stories have in common

Across 23 completed Italian cases plus these six featured stories, the common threads are:

1. The Italian odontoiatra relationship matters. Patients who kept their Italian odontoiatra in the loop, directly, through us writing to them, or through a video consultation between our clinician and theirs, had smoother integration. We initiate this outreach by default; you can opt out if you prefer, but we encourage opt-in.

2. The maths is case-dependent. A single implant saves €800–€2,100 net of travel. A dual-arch FMR saves €25,000–€40,000 net of travel. We will tell you where on that curve your case sits, honestly, before you pay anything beyond the refundable 10% deposito.

3. The coordination layer is what earns the saving. Flights, hotels, visa, translations, home dentist letters, warranty processing, emergency support. The patients who describe our service positively describe the small things, a coordinator remembering their figlio's name, a note in Italian on the hotel room, a call the morning of the return flight.

4. The clinical work is the clinical work. Zirconia milled to a specification does not know where in the world it was milled. What varies between a good Italian prosthodontist and Stunning Dentistry is the price, the coordination layer, and the distance. Not the quality of what ends up in your mouth.
